sumpah pemuda. sumpah saya.

I've seen the bigger picture

"I've seen the bigger picture. I can't do everything and still have everything so I have to let some of the pieces go."
 -Dr. Miranda Bailey
(from Grey's Anatomy season 3)

This is my favorite quote from my favorite TV show.

I'm letting go some pieces of me for a better me, for my better future. I don't know if this is the right thing or not, so far I know I'm letting the part which has been inside me for 9 years. I know maybe it's not easy. I hope I'm doing the right thing.

universal language

I got a postcard from Netherlands recently, from Joke Roodenburg. She said that she took a look at my blog (which is this blog) and said she loved to read how proud I am of my country.

I realized that I'm using Indonesian in most of my blog posts, especially posts about Indonesia. But I got a blog visitor from other country who doesn't understand Indonesian at all and still she got the point from my posts.

I came to a conclusion I made: a sincere love is an universal language. no matter how you show it, other still can see you inner feelings, your sincerity.

Well, I did showed my sincere love to my country, and I'm proud of myself telling the world how I love my own country :)

i finally know what it feels like

So, I had my first time being a super-huge-fan of a band. It started with me, iput, and ibeth watching the Java Soulnation which was held last week, not really knowing who were the performer of the night. Well, I knew there would be Sophie Ellis Bextor, Depapepe, and Valerius and I know some of their songs.

Sophie Ellis Bextor was good, Depapepe was...kinda boring, but surprisingly Valerius was..........superb! I barely knew this band, I knew 2 of their songs that play frequently on the radio and I had downloaded 2 other song, I knew this is the band I tried to google but there were no result. But still I have no idea their performance really caught my heart.

So after watching their first performance, we instantly got crazy of them and decided to watch them again on the next day at Erasmus Huis (they're from Amsterdam, that's why they performed in Erasmus Huis).

Their performance on Erasmus Huis was unforgettable. I got my CD signed by all Valerius members. I took a photo with Jesse, Jelte, and Kay. And I was hugged by Jelte.

Later on, we had a like 5 days of post-concert syndrome. We sang Valerius's songs all over again, never get bored. We stalked their twitter account just to know where they were and what were they doing. We tuned on the radio on their radio show. Got their songs stuck in my head like every time. Set their concert photo as my wallpaper, and et cetera.

I finally know what it feels like to be a huge fan. I have never thought I would be like this, yea but this is me now, fighting myself not to fall deeper into this "groupies-thingy". I know why people do weird things just to see-hear-meet their idols.

Well, thanks to Valerius for letting me know what it feels like to be ordinary, having the feelings everybody else have, for giving me the coolest concert I have watched, for meeting a brand-new not so popular band but unbelievably great just like them.

Picture timeee!

this is them for the photoshoot of Hai Magazine. left to right: Jelte Tuinsra, Xander Vriensten, Kay Nambiar, Jesse Nambiar, Georgy Patrick

 Kay at the Soulnation

my favorite photo of my favorite person: Jelte at the Erasmus Huis

the moment Jesse sang the line "In your head you're begging for my love" on the song She Doesn't Know

this is me with Jelte at Erasmus Huis

and this is me again with Jesse (I'm pretty sure you all know Jesse is the one on the left, not the right)

So yeah! We got their set list, all signed. we really have to be proud on this one :))

and... got my CD signed by all of them!

See you later, V. You rocked my days! I'm waiting for your next concert in Indonesia :)

red cross

yesterday was my first time doing the blood donation. i was scared and nervous at first but after all i did it. and i think it's not bad. I'm planning to donate my blood at least 3 times a year from now on :)

I love it when I think my blood might be running on somebody now, and I think about how useful it might be. For me, it won't be any difference whether that 250cc of blood is inside or outside my body. I will still be me. But maybe for somebody, it might be a life and death situation.

So for whoever is having (or will be having) my blood running on his/hers, I hope everything goes well. I hope what I did means something to you and your family.

I'm going to donate more blood in the future. I promise I won't consume drugs and alcohols, I will keep myself in a perfect health so that I can give my best for those who need my blood.

"If you donate money, you give food. But if you donate blood, you give life!"

well, I'm not referring to a person.

NDONESIA!

i love Indonesia because we are colorful

Indonesia is like this marble.

Kita saling berbeda warna tapi kita bersatu.

Kita seharusnya bangga.

Apakah kamu bangga akan bahasa Indonesia? Kenapa?

(not) a farewell

Thank you for being a huge part in my life
I'm gonna miss you...

... or maybe it isn't a farewell at all?
